Sister Wah Beef Brisket received the Michelin Bib Gourmand award for 10 consecutive years. In a high-cost city like HongKong, Sister Wah is one of the very affordable restaurants in Causeway Bay.
I asked my friends who visited HongKong and my cousins who live in HongKong for food recommendations and they all told me that Sister Wah is one of the delicious and cheap restaurants in Causeway Bay. Sister Wah Beef Brisket is well-known among both locals and tourists, so there could be a slight line. We came here on a Wednesday afternoon, we waited for around 10 minutes or less, during which we saw a lot of people come for their take-out. It's obviously one of the best Causeway Bay restaurants.

I ordered the beef brisket noodles with ho fun (HKD$70). Ho fun are thick rice noodles that are popular in Cantonese cuisine, similar to Vietnamese phõ noodles.
When the food arrived, I immediately tried the soup and was amazed by how great it was! It's savory with a hint of sweetness. And unlike other brisket soup that I had in HongKong, it isn't overly salty and doesn't make me thirsty from MSG. The broth of Sister Wah is not made from just beef, they added turnip to the base of the soup which added a refreshing sweetness of vegetables.
The brisket has evenly distributed fat with thin strips of bouncy connective tissue. It's extremely tender and juicy.

On each table are special store-made chili oil and chili sauce, they smell so good and taste great as well. I am a huge chili lover and would usually put heaps in my food. But the soup was so good on it's own I couldn't bear adding chili to it! I put some chili sauce in a spoon and tried some soup with it, it was good but I felt that it overwhelmed the original flavor. The ho fun were smooth and not overcooked to be too soft, the light aroma of rice perfectly complements that soup.
Ares got the beef brisket, tendon, & tripe with Shanghai noodles (HKD$100 + HKD$5). Typically, Shanghai noodles are white, thick noodles, but Sister Wah's Shanghai noodles are more like oil noodles which are thin and yellow, and are commonly found in Cantonese cuisine.
The "Shanghai noodles" have a stronger taste and kind of interferes with the taste of the soup. Plus, you need to add HKD$5 for them. I personally believe that the soup goes better with ho fun and so do most people, as it is the most popular option in the store. The tendon in the noodles are cooked super tender but not overly soft, retaining a nice bouncy texture also soaking up the flavor in the soup. The honeycomb part on the tripe is crunchy while the smooth muscle on the side is soft and chewy.
Sister Wah Beef Brisket also offers very generous proportions, providing not just a huge bowl of soup with plenty of beef, but also a large serving of noodles. Even 6ft 2 Ares who trains twice a day was full after just one bowl.
Each type of noodles can also be made into dry stir noodles. If you come with a larger group, I strongly suggest you try the stir curry beef brisket noodles as well. In addition, there are all types of dan dan noodles. If you like spicy food, they would pair perfectly with the store-made chili sauce.
